Expedition to Freedom

Chapter 3

Remember in the Chapter 1 header

I wrote that “no one would get clean and sober if they couldn’t learn how to stay safe from day-one of their journey …”. One of the signs that a person is not quite ready to make the journey and leave the drugs and alcohol behind is what we’ll call an “addiction ego”. This is the destructive brain pattern that holds people back and keeps them in their disease cycle.

Let’s review the realities again right now.

You are reading these words because you or someone who loves you has found this course and now it’s laid out before you. People do not spend time in our coursework unless they have a history of failure on their own. If alcohol and drugs are not causing you problems in your life or the life of someone you care about, what are you doing here? (We just needed to make that point so we can help you build on it going forward).

Real recovery revolves around one central focus.

You must stay safe. The good news is that in the Recovery Journey Addiction Freedom Course you will be presented with many safe coping skills so that no matter what negative life events come your way, nothing has to make you use substances or engage in any high-risk behavior. Here’s that bold statement again, let it sink in and empower you to complete the course: “people who follow all of the safety instructions our program offers and use the tools we provide are 100% successful in attaining and maintaining sobriety”.

Now take a moment to think about why you are here.

Think about your truth, your motivation, what is at risk for you, what have you lost, what people, places, and things are slipping away from you? Use the space below to exercise your right to honesty with yourself. Express why you are now willing to practice safety in this new recovery journey. Write it down, shed tears if they come, express your emotions and your fears. _____________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________

Now that you have taken some time, and completed the suggested work in these exercises you may be overwhelmed with a desire to move forward and claim your sustainable recovery from alcohol and drugs. If you are moved and emotional about what you’ve just considered, now is the time to take action. Use the link below to start the online course immediately, don’t let another day go by and fall back into your “hijacked brain”!

Be safe and care for one another.
